Principle Mechanical Engineer

We have an opening with a great client of ours and we are looking for a Principle Mechanical Engineer to work a position in Minneapolis, MN.  This is a 1 year-long contract and you must be a US Citizen to apply. Required: US Citizenship and Residency, W2 hourly Contract Only, No 1099, No third parties, no C2C.  No exceptions (Sorry)
 
Pay: $65/hr. to $75/hr. D.O.E. - MUST BE CLEARABLE 
 
PRINCIPLE MECHANICAL ENGINEER
  • Researches, plans, analyzes, designs, and develops mechanical products such as ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other devices. 
  • Performs technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs. 
  • Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements. 
  • Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. 
  • May deliver technical presentations. 
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies advanced knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in area of specialized expertise to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems. 
  • Provides technical leadership, consultation, or guidance to specialized engineering groups and other technical personnel. 
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes designs to ensure engineering projects meet technical, cost, quality, and performance requirements. 
  • Researches, writes, and presents technical presentations to enhance the company's reputation with customers and in the technical community.
  • Initiates and maintains external contacts with key experts and officials of other companies, national labs, academic institutions, and government agencies. 
  • Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve complex engineering problems, using specialized equipment, or by creating computer programs, models, or simulations. 
  • Prepares, presents, and defends project technical results and recommendations to customers. Participates in formal technical reviews. 
  • Prepares technical and cost portions of proposals related to area of expertise. 
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. 
  • Advises senior management on new developments and programs. 
  • May direct the work of less senior technical personnel. 
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. 
  • Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. 
 
SKILLS REQUIRED 
  • Ability to solve complex technical design and development problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge. 
  • Strong mechanical/structural design skills and capable of looking at a design & determining potential failure areas for given load conditions. 
  • Strong analytical skills and preferably ability to perform basic FEA. 
  • Capable of developing concepts and performing trade studies to support the decision process 
  • Knowledge of common engineering material properties and limitations. 
  • Strong knowledge of part fabrication and assembly processes during the design to address producibility & minimize costs.
  • Proficient in the use of CREO or similar package to create part models, assemblies & drawings. 
  • Capable of checking drawings, performing tolerance studies and solid understanding of GD&T. 
  • Good communication skills - capable of creating and delivering messages in a concise manner. 
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Education
